April 2005 Manaia support opening of the New Zealand Embassy in Warsaw, Poland.
Manaia were invited to support the opening of the New Zealand embassy in April 2005. This was a very important occasion because it was attended by the Prime Minister of New Zealand and meant Manaia supporting our elders that attended from New Zealand.
The blessing of the building involved a dawn ceremony lead by Dr Huirangi Waikerepuru and others from Taranaki and Aotea waka tribes. Manaia supported by singing of traditional waiata from those areas.
